The ideal candidate for this role should possess a robust background in designing pressure vessels and a deep understanding of EN codes, regulations, and the fundamental principles within the code. Proficiency in ASME codes, with a specific focus on relevant documents, is highly advantageous. The role will also encompass stress analysis, evaluating vessel performance, and a strong emphasis on fracture mechanics, all with a primary focus on pressure vessel design.

Overall, we are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with a solid foundation in general engineering to contribute to this innovative and dynamic field.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality, exemplifying a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation and standards associated with design engineering.
  • Apply knowledge to confirm that designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and requirements.
  • Additional accountabilities as assigned by the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements may be required, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities as outlined in the company management system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain the design intent throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure that the application of standards is proportionate and that engineering best practices are consistently adopted.
  • Raise concerns to the relevant Principal Engineer when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other discipline areas to ensure the overall design intent is preserved.
  • Carry out design development, drawing, validation, and substantiation, as well as data capture and integration into the system.
  • Deliver presentations to regulators as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficiency in designing pressure vessels and equipment from first principles.
  • A background in a highly regulated industry is essential.
  • A clear understanding of fundamental principles, including stress, strain, and plastic analysis.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex legislative documentation and engineering standards.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Due to the nature of the project, candidates must be British Nationals and hold either live and active SC Security Clearance or DV Security Clearance.
