Position – HGV Technician
Type – Contract
Rate – Circa £31.50 per hour Umbrella Co 
Duration – 12 Months +
Hours – Typically 38 hours per week 
Determination – OUTSIDE IR35
Security – UK BPSS / SC Security Clearance to be in place
Location – Ruislip, Middlesex, UK

    Location: Ruislip

    Monday to Friday, rotating shifts 6am to 14:30 and then a late shift till 10:00pm

      Main Purpose of Role:

      To service and repair motor vehicles in a safe & efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as is required

        Key Duties and Responsibilities

      1. To understand the importance of following procedures, method statements, work instructions, risk assessments for this role.
      2. To service, maintain and repair vehicles, components and accessories including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided
      3. To work in an efficient and productive manner, achieving the targets set out and agreed with workshop operation manager/supervisors.
      4. To operate a ‘Fix First Time’ way of working ensuring quality of work is at the utmost standard and meets/exceeds any inspection carried out.
      5. To diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. Including road testing where deemed necessary.
      6. Observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure. Identification of recharge costs advising the Workshop Supervisor and correct completion of paperwork
      7. Order from the parts department all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work
      8. Interpret technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data. Implement by applying correct techniques
      9. Ensure the correct completion of all job related documentation (job cards, parts orders, logbooks etc.) including job write-ups
      10. Report to Workshop Supervisor & Workshop Manager any specialist tooling requirements
      11. Ensure at all times that equipment and tools are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damaged/faulty equipment to the Workshop Supervisor.
      12. Keep abreast of improvements and techniques and to ensure all aspects of work meet departmental quality standards
      13. Take a pro-active role in the continuous improvement process applied to vehicle and operational equipment inspection, servicing and repair processes and associated documentation
      14. Work within established Company policies and procedures.

      20. Carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and to satisfy customer needs.
      21. KNOWLEDGE;
      22. Knowledge of HGV/LGV technical specifications and maintenance requirements.
      23. Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
      24. EXPERIENCE;
      25. Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs.
      26. Experience of managing issues effectively via telephone/email.
      27. Experience of working remotely / providing a support service remotely.
      29. NVQ Level 2/Level 3 in HGV Vehicle Maintenance/LGV Vehicle Maintenance/Auto-Electric Maintenance.
