Hours per week – 37.5 hours
Location – Salisbury, Wiltshire and Gosport, Hampshire (full time on site)
Security Clearance Required – Live and Active SC (ideally DV) Security Clearance

Due to project sensitivity and location, candidates must be UK Nationals only and hold active minimum SC Security Clearance and be happy to obtain DV clearance.  

As an RF Maritime Modelling Engineer, you will provide specialist technical analysis and simulation model development of RF Systems. The tasks will require you to master a graphical programming environment, utilising skills and experience in research, mathematical modelling, develop signal processing elements of complex systems, simulation and analysis.

This role will be based at Dstl Porton Down and HMS Collingwood, Gosport, where you will be part of a small specialist team working on Maritime Threat system models, providing advice and support to the development of RF Countermeasures.

Role Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Degree level or equivalent in a Science or Engineering discipline (e.g. Physics or Engineering, including Software Engineering).
  • Knowledge of model and simulations techniques to real-world scenarios
  • Good understanding of the physics behind RF sensors 
  • Experience in simulation and the development of models
  • Experience in use the models and tools in order to provide evidence data
  • Experience in a number of different software languages and applications (predominantly Matlab, Simulink and C++)
  • Write, assure and document the code within models and analysis tools

Desirable:

  • Experience in analysis of complex and large datasets
  • The ability to apply a broad variety of analytical techniques to solve problems
  • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of outputs in support of advice
  • Track record of delivering advice in a complex technical area with minimal oversite
  • RF domain knowledge and/or RF modelling experience (e.g. RF environments, RF Threat system understanding, RF countermeasure development)
  • Experience in simulation and the development of models in Simulink
  • Experience in real time, and faster than real time, software environments
  • Track record of reporting complex projects
