Security – UK BPSS / SC Security Clearance to be in place

Primary Purpose;
The purpose of the post is:
To manage the delivery and co-ordinate the Infrastructure Engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
Responsible for managing the technical aspects of the engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover.
The post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.
Accountabilities;
The Post is accountable to the Design Manager for the technical management (quality) of assigned packages.
The Post is accountable to the Project Managers for output to scope, schedule and cost.
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities;
Develop, lead, manage and co-ordinate the technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management decisions.
Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project’s technical planning process.
Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock’s Business Management System and Technical Manual.
Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
Ensure design information is articulated to the Safety Manager to enable appropriate justification of the engineering / activities within the Facility Safety Case
Interfacing Responsibilities;
Design Manager– to ensure a consistent technical output, adherence with the DA Non-Functional requirements and co-ordination with the Nuclear Safety justification.
15 Dock Safety Manager – to ensure that the technical design aspects of the engineering is aligned with the Nuclear Safety requirements / constraints
UAG Facility Lead – to demonstrate that the designed systems will meet the functional User Requirements providing a Facility Capability
Project / Package Manager – to communicate on project deliverables to scope, schedule and cost. Raise any technical issues that may have an effect on overall project delivery
Other Facility Design Managers – to ensure consistence of approach, learn from experience, process improvement etc.
Engineering Services TA Leads – to ensure system / facility design can be integrated within existing infrastructure, share learning from experience etc.
H&SE Management Team (CDM, EPR etc.) – to communicate information regarding risk assessments, design information etc. for addition to the pre-construction information pack
Authority;
Request the necessary support from the Project Manager within the constraints of budget and in accordance with the project strategy. Liaise with the Design Manager to prioritise projects/work packages.
Develop & implement the Engineering Management Plan and ensure appropriate direction to ensure the delivery of technical requirements.
Audit defined processes and activities within the Engineering Management Plan to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Sanction actions that support the development and implementation of the Engineering Management Plan.

9.0 Qualifications and Experience Requirements;
Academic:
A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council.
Sound understanding and application of relevant:
Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements
