Position – Commissioning Manager
Type – Contract
Rate – Circa £50.00 per hour Umbrella Co 
Duration – 3 Months +
Hours – Typically 37 hours per week 
Determination – Inside IR35
Security – UK SC Security Clearance to be in place
Location – Hartlepool Power Station, UK
Start Date – ASAP !

Experience requirements;

  • Reasonable experience of a range of engineering topics including site management experience
  • To include all phases of a complex, multi discipline, project in a regulated environment (preferably Nuclear)
  • Significant experience of a range of engineering topics including site management experience

  • Academic Requirements;
  • Level 6 qualification (e.g. Degree) in appropriate engineering discipline (EC&I or Mechanical preferred)
  • CEng Membership (preferred)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (Minimum Requirement, NEBOSH preferred)
  • HNC/HND where augmented with specific experience (EC&I or Mechanical preferred)
  • IEng Membership (preferred)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (Minimum Requirement, NEBOSH preferred)
  • Principal Tasks and Responsibilities ;
  • Be the focal point for Cavendish Nuclear on Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station.
  • Lead and coordinate Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality.
  • Responsible for managing a multi-disciplined team, carrying out various activities, which include installation, maintenance, commissioning and decommissioning depending on EDF’s requirements.
  • Developing a strong safety culture with high personal standards, compliance and incident reporting from all site team members, based on sound knowledge and experience, and demonstrated by visibility in the field and leading by example.
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and governance to Site teams to ensure all work carried out is delivered safely, to high standards of quality to time and cost, in line with sound Construction Management and Construction Safety principles.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their health and safety responsibilities and that the company’s and client safety procedures are effectively deployed and implemented.
  • Maintain appropriate setting to work arrangements
  • Deliver weekly toolbox talk to cascade company communications and address any site team issues or concerns.
  • Ensure all training and SQEP requirements are established and regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Effectively managing the resources, influencing and supporting the development of individuals in their continued professional development, and ensuring disciplinary, performance and wellbeing matters are managed appropriately.
  • Recruitment processing and competency evaluations.
  • Maintaining governance arrangements for the safe delivery of the services and projects; defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with the Cavendish Business Management System
  • Proactively establishing and maintaining effective communications between Cavendish Nuclear and the client.
  • Interact with client representatives to understand their challenges and how Cavendish can support.
  • To proactively contribute to client accountability reviews.     
  • Engage with the Engineering Department and Project Manager as required to agree construction strategies.
  • Managing the Customer Interface and associated management of site customer expectations including identification and monitoring of project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing response to these and responding to other issues that affect the project and wider Business Unit.
  • Be a constructive representative in client safety forums.
  • Producing reports as required to Cavendish Nuclear to demonstrate project performance is controlled with respect to Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality.
  • To follow company procedures in the execution of their role.
  • Bid work through production of task quotations in line with assigned delegations of authority. Where value exceeds that of delegated authority then chair required gate reviews to allow work to be bid.
  • Where there is no specialist planning resource assigned to the site then plan activities as required to ensure all activities can be resourced whilst minimising under-utilisation.
  • Any other task/duties, commensurate with the Role Holder’s competency, as directed by the Line Manager.
      1. These duties are project specific and in addition to those described in the Company and project manuals and procedures.  He/she shall ensure familiarity with these documents and any legislation to which they refer. The Site Manager will be assisted in the execution of these duties by engineering, technical, supervisory and clerical staff, as appropriate, for whom he will be responsible.
