Rate – Upto – £65.00 per hour Umbrella Co OR PAYE equivalent (DOE)

Hours – Typically 38 hours per week
Determination – Inside IR35
Security – UK SC Security Clearance to be in place
Location – Devonport, Plymouth, UK / Remote (2 days per week office based)

Senior Safety Engineer, Nuclear

About the role;
We’re looking for a Senior Safety Engineer to join us in the Defuel team at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world.
For more than three hundred years Engineers have been shaping the dockyard to ensure it supports the fleet and protects the nation. We need you to help continue this tradition, transforming, sustaining and improving Devonport to meet the demands of the Royal Navy for the next hundred years.
We are looking for individuals to support the Defuel23 programme of work, preparing a dock for defueling and dismantling of submarines.
As a Senior Safety Engineer your activities could include but won’t be limited to: the provision of Nuclear and Radiological knowledge and support to the business; the provision of technical advice on Nuclear Safety Assessment processes and policy; ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and the terms of the Site Licence; the delivery of Nuclear Safety Cases and Licencing Plans; the development and implementation of Nuclear Safety processes and standards. This project presents an opportunity to get involved in the development on a new Safety Case.

What do I need to be able to do the role?
You’ll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience; a background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial for the roles we are looking to fill. You’ll be registered as a Chartered Engineer (or be working towards chartered status). You’ll also posses good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication, with the ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers and internal stakeholders. For this role we are looking for specific experience in Deterministic Safety Analysis to support this area of Safety Case development.
