Position –  Project Planning & Assurance Lead
Type – Contract
Rate – Circa £55.00 per hour Umbrella Co OR PAYE equivalent (DOE)
Duration – 10 Months +
Hours – Typically 40 hours per week
Determination – Inside IR35
Security – UK BPSS / SC Security Clearance to be in place
Location – Stoke Gifford, Bristol, UK

Main Purpose of Role;

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead provides support across all SSE contracts, leading project assurance reviews, health checks, and improvement initiatives. The role works alongside other project controls specialists, and provides the interfaces into the central Babcock Group project controls team to ensure industry best practice is utilised across all SSE contracts.

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead also provides ownership of the local SSE planning tool (MS Project Server) to ensure this fulfils current and future SSE business requirements. This entails delivering training and support to users, and also leading on the development and improvement of the tool.

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead is central to successful project delivery through the assurance of project controls processes, quality of the data held, and the functionality of the supporting tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences; 

It is essential that the post holder has experience of working within a project controls environment, in particular planning and/or scheduling, and also has experience of undertaking project assurance reviews and/or health-checks. Experience of other areas of project controls, and project governance/audits would be advantageous.

The post holder must have extensive experience and knowledge of project planning using Microsoft Project Server (Project Web App – PWA), as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience /knowledge of Primavera P6, Power BI, and SharePoint would be advantageous.

Prior experience of coaching, process development, improvement initiatives, and community of practices would also be advantageous, as would prior experience of working in UK Defence or similar industries.

Qualifications;

HNC or equivalent level of education.

Project management / project controls qualification (e.g. APM Project PFQ/PMQ) would be beneficial, though training/qualification opportunities will be provided.
