Type – Contract
Rate – £38.00 per hour Umbrella / Limited Co 
Duration – 6 Months +
Hours – Typically 38 hours per week
Determination – Outside IR35

Main purpose of the role:

To design and develop suitable tooling for manufacture of low to medium volume of electric motors, inverters and gearboxes.

To identify, specify and develop manufacturing processes, facilities (equipment), flows and layouts for current, speculative and future manufacturing requirements.

Support in establishing world-class, effective manufacturing processes, and a knowledge base for these processes which delivers a competitive “design for cost” and “design for manufacture” solution.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide the Manufacturing teams with the necessary tooling and support to drive efficient assembly of e-motor systems.
  • Provide manufacturing input into commercial quotations and cost development in terms of equipment / investment, cycle times, manning, process balance, material cash-flow and overheads.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineering team in identifying world-class / best-in-class processes for relevant assembly methods. This may also require close cooperation with the Core Technologies (R&D)    Team.
  • Liaise with Design and Engineering functions to provide support for DFM and DFA activities.
  • Ensure build issues are captured on the concerns database, and resolutions are identified and progressed.
  • Organise the delegation of investigation activities, test activities, and assembly trials to the relevant departments, and utilise design, development, test, and build teams to facilitate.
  • Liaise between Build, Design, and Engineering functions to ensure build tooling requirements are captured and any issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Undertake investigations relating to process improvements for engineering and build to ensure quality is continuously improved for all projects, ensuring that build follow quality procedures to comply          with ISO9001 2015.
  • Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • keep up to date with Health and Safety regulations and changes.
  • Make sure that any faulty tools, equipment or PPE are removed from use and where possible repaired or replaced. Ensure these issues are also reported to the line manager or Health and Safety Group. 
  • Experience;
  • Experience in a motorsport, automotive, or similar precision prototype or low volume production and development environments.

    Minimum of 5 year’s experience of assembly of complex electrical/mechanical systems.

    Experience in the use of CAD systems.

  • Experience of Catia V5 / V6 

  • Experience in the build of e-motor systems ideally
